Thomas Hartwell (born in Texas, USA) studied Middle Eastern Studies and Photojournalism at the University of Texas. He is a Cairo-based freelance photographer and photography professor in the Mass Communications Department at the AUC. He has spent over 30 years in the Middle East photographing news, features and documentary assignments. His portraits have appeared on the covers and pages of international and regional publications. He has taught at universities in Egypt, Texas and Algeria. He has exhibited regionally and internationally in galleries in Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Italy, Bahrain and the US.
